Showdown At Chicago Marathon 2022: Story of Binita Choksi

Team Motiv8 athlete Binita Choksi ran the Chicago Marathon 2022 in 4:22, despite a serious of Murphy’s Law-esque setbacks encountered during the training cycle.
Speaking about her training cycle, Binita said:
“My training cycle for this race was most inconsistent. First was hospitalization due to food poisoning, then weakness due to a barrage of antibiotics. No sooner had I recovered from that than I got bit by a dog, and had to take the regimen of anti rabies shots. Over 6 valuable training weeks were in energy and muscle loss”
Speaking about keeping motivation during the training cycle, she said:
“I kept away from toxic people and kept in touch with extremely few people who would give me sensible advice. I constantly kept in touch with coach Atul and that worked!!!”
About her race day experience, she said:
“On race day, I decided to do something which goes against my own principle of starting slow . With the muscle pulsations that would start at 20k during a training run , I took a chance of going fast in the first half , in the anticipation that the muscle Spasm will anyways happen latter half of the race, which it did!”
After finishing the race, Binita said:
“My first thought was “ I DID IT” ; I felt I had scaled a mountain top!!!!! With a single long run of 24kms exactly a week before the race, all doubts vanished at the 40 km mark. The 400 metres bonus mark at 40km confused many, but not me.. my mind was super alert!!!! This run was totally mind over body!!! A BIG BIG THANKS TO YOU, COACH☺️”
