Boston Qualification redux at Adani Marathon 2022: Story of Krishna Sirothia

Team Motiv8 athlete Krishna Sirothia had a great race at Adani Marathon 2022. Though qualified for the Boston Qualifier last year, he could not run at the 2022 edition of the Boston Marathon due to visa issues. To run the 2024 edition of the Boston Marathon, he needed to re-qualify again, and he did so in style, clocking a time of 3:05!

Here are his thoughts about the journey:

What was the most difficult thing you faced during training?

To not to miss workouts along with the busy work schedule and travel. I also got a severe back spasm 5 weeks before the race and had to miss planned runs for 4 days. However, I kept myself motivated and trusted my training and not to worry too much about missed workouts.

How did you keep yourself motivated during training?

The goal to do better and to achieve my goal of Boston qualification and running the Boston marathon in 2024 which I had missed in 2022 due to Visa issues.

What was the most difficult thing you faced on the race day?

The last 10K as always were very hard. It took all my mental effort to keep myself going (though a bit slower than the target pace) especially in the last 5kms and not allow my mind to convince me to stop and walk.

What was your first thought and feeling after the finish?

That I have qualified comfortably for 2024 Boston Marathon. With that a long way away, I can focus on my next goal of bettering my marathon timing and attempt a sub-3 marathon.
