Simple metric to measure the quality of your runs

Here is a simple metric to measure if your workout was good:

Your workout was good if your first 1-2Ks are equal to or slower than the average pace for the entire run. Conversely, your last 1-2Ks should be equal in pace or faster than your average pace.

These two criteria mean that you did the workout with the correct and proper pacing – starting conservatively, and finishing strong. Equally importantly, you can go home feeling mentally satisfied about the workout. Nobody likes the taste of a bad workout where you faded in the last few Ks because you started out too fast!
